# How to Install MetaMask

**You can easily add MetaMask as an extension to your web browser.**

**The MetaMask wallet download page automatically detects the browser you are using and updates the installation button with a link to your browser's web store.**

**Here’s how to install MetaMask:**\
  1\.    Visit the [MetaMask download page](https://metamask.io/).\
  2\.   Click the "Install MetaMask…" button to go to your browser's store.

3. Click the "Add to Chrome" button on the right (if you are using Google Chrome).

5. Next, click the "Get Started" button.

6. Agree or decline the data collection and usage terms.

   Create a new wallet or import an existing wallet. When importing an existing wallet, you will need to enter the 12-word secret recovery phrase<br>

8. &#x20;Enter a password for your wallet. The password allows you to make transactions and access MetaMask, while the Secret Recovery Phrase allows you to restore your wallet when installing it on another device.

9. Accept the terms of the agreement to click the "Create" button.

10. Click "Remind Me Later" on the next step, and MetaMask will automatically create a new account for you named "Account 1."

**Note**: To make things easier, pin MetaMask to your browser's toolbar so you can quickly access it when needed.\ <br>
